1. 一般情况下，词尾直接加er。

2. 以不发音的e结尾，词尾加r。

如：late-later, nice-nicer, safe-safer, wide-wider

3. 重读闭音节且词尾只有一个辅音字母，双写该辅音字母再加er。

如：big-bigger, fat-fatter, thin-thinner, hot-hotter

4. 以辅音字母加y结尾，把y变i再加er。

如：easy-easier, funny-funnier, friendly-friendlier
